Lesbian is ordered to give up children

DENVER (AP) — Insisting that "the sexual preference of the mother" was not the basis of his decision, a Denver judge this week ordered a homosexual woman to surrender custody of her two children to their father.

District Judge Roger Cisneros said he ordered Kathryn Stover to give up her children, Audrey Lynn, 8, and Jesse Edwin, 6, because expert testimony indicated that it was "in the best interest of the children

to be with their father."

Kathryn and Harold Stover separated nine months ago after I nearly 13 years of marriage. At that time, Ann Adams moved into the Stover home to live with Mrs. Stover, while her husband moved to an apartment several miles away. The children remained with Mrs. Stover.

Mrs. Stover, 36, and Ms. Adams, 34, are both registered nurses who worked together.
